KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- The police today denied having issued a warning for the people to avoid several public places in the city said to be targets for terror attacks by the Daesh militant group.
"This alert is not from @PDRMsia," said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in a Twitter message.
He also uploaded a screenshot of the warning that had gone viral on social media.
The message, in English, had asked Malaysians to keep away from several locations such as Publika, Bangsar, The Curve, Mid Valley, KLCC, Menara Kuala Lumpur, Hartamas, Bukit Bintang and LRT stations.
It said: "The Malaysian Government confirms with either one or any of these places will be attacked by ISIL (Daesh). Please share and you might save lives.
"Guys please stay away from KLCC - Pavilion - Beach Club area - Jalan Alor and Petaling Street. We are the next target for bombing according to Special Branch." (sic). -- BERNAMA
