SUBANG JAYA: POLICE are seeking the assistance of the public to help locate a 30-year-old suspect believed to be brains behind a spate of lorry thefts in the district, according to Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari.
"We are looking for Kugan A/L Muniandy whose last known address is in Puchong to help us solve several cases related to the theft of lorries."
"We believe he is the man behind a syndicate which has been stealing lorries since January this year," he said during a press conference.
Mohammad Azlin said police arrested seven suspects, one of whom was a woman last month.
"From interrogations, the suspects admitted to stealing five lorries in the Klang Valley since early this year. Each suspect is skilled to disengage the vehicle's GPS tracking system, duplicate keys and even tamper with the vehicle's wiring."
"We have since released the woman as we found that she had no role in the thefts and was merely the girlfriend of one of the suspects arrested," he added.
According to him, their last theft was a lorry parked by the road side in Lagoon Perdana in Bandar Sunway.
"They would steal the vehicle and drive it all the way up to Ipoh and pass it to the suspect at large to sell."
"If you spot Kugan, please call the nearest police station immediately and help us solve this case," he said.
