THE football field at SS15/2E has been fully restored and is now open for use.

Repaired and restored at a cost of RM69,000, the SS15/2E field is one of the last football fields in Subang Jaya to be restored by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council, according to ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh.

“There are a total of 19 football fields in the whole municipality. Each cost around RM35,000 to restore.”

“It is important for residents near the football fields to help us care for them,” she said after launching the newly restored field in SS15.

Hannah said the SS15/2E field is very popular with residents and students as it was big enough to accommodate the various games and activities. The other fields in Subang Jaya are in USJ2, USJ11, USJ12 and Laman Sukan MPSJ in USJ1.

“The padang became bald because of the activities held there. The restoration work includes planting grass and we also engage student volunteers to help us in this initiative.”

“People play during rain. This is one of the reasons behind the bald patches as the ground becomes soft and easily destroyed,” she added.

Hannah urged residents to stop others from playing during rain and reminded them of the dangers of lightning strikes as well during bad weather.

“Call MPSJ to help chase them away if the users of the field do not listen to you,” she said.

MPSJ’s deputy president Abdullah Marjunid who was present at the launch called on residents to help the local council care for the field.

“The padang is now beautiful and I am sure it will remain so with the help of residents,” he said.

Groups who wish to use the field for events have to make their bookings with MPSJ. The use of the field by residents is free.

Bookings can be made by calling MPSJ’s officer Adlin Nasir at 017-627 5667.
