Beginning April 11, the health ministry will mount a two-month operation to eliminate dengue breeding grounds at 192 hotspots nationwide.

Minister, Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the operation, aimed at maintaining a steady decline in dengue cases would focus on enforcement measures at construction sites, the main breeding grounds. He said the number of dengue cases had been declining weekly, from over 3,500 cases in the 11th week to 2,135 cases (13th week). Based on the trend in the country over the past two years, Dr Subramaniam said the increase in cases was expected to start early next month, with its peak in early July. "As such, the ministry has taken preliminary measures to clean up all areas thoroughly to overcome this problem," he added. However, Dr Subramaniam said at times, the increase in cases was inevitable due to weather, rainfall pattern and mosquito behavioral factors.
Over in Subang Jaya last month, residents embarked on a major search and destroy initiative organized by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council. All over the municipality, various JKPs organized their respective efforts in the Ops Mega Dengue programme.
For JKP1, the all-out effort was carried out in the neighbourhood of SS17. Residents and volunteers from the Skuad Denggi got together and swept through the neighbourhood looking for potential mosquito breeding grounds.

The residents of PJS9 in Bandar Sunway also mounted a similar programme for JKP2. They were joined by ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh.
Over in USJ11/1, residents also got together to carry out their search and destroy efforts.
