EDITORIAL: Working as a Team is Important in a Community

NO man is an island. We cannot survive on our own and that is a known fact, especially when we live in a community like Subang Jaya. Our community is “well-known” for its ability to work and move forward together. People always ask me how we do it.

The open secret to our success in bringing Subang Jaya forward is the fact that many, if not most of us, believe that we can achieve more working together. There is no single hero in our midst; we are all heroes for dedicating many man hours, sweat and effort in community work. We integrate community work into our lives; balancing it with our work and family commitments. On weekends when it’s quiet, I believe many of the community leaders do get this question from their spouse “How come you are at home? No tree planting, Ops Tikus or Ops Denggi to attend to? Are you not feeling well?”

Over the years of working together, we have all developed a certain sense of comradeship. Yes, there will still be disagreements but this are all sorted out between us through discussions on the best way forward. We have all matured into a formidable team that many from outside Subang Jaya want to emulate.

This year, all the teams from JKP Zone 1-4 have agreed to work on a special project for a common cause. They have put their commitment behind a cause that will help save lives. This initiative will soon be announced and this is definitely an initiative you as a Subang Jaya resident will want to support.

On a day-to-day basis the Rukun Tetangga groups in all corners of Subang Jaya have come together to form a Community Policing (Rukun Tetangga) group to share information and intelligence on crime prevention with the police. Information derived from different RT groups is shared speedily and everyone comes together under one banner – Rukun Tetangga.

We would like to welcome our new man on the block Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari who had just reported for duty last month. It is with open arms that we welcome you as a community and we are definitely looking forward to working with you and the police team to continue to fight crime together.

The magic word behind Subang Jaya’s success is Working Together. We work together as a team and we serve the community as a team. Our intentions are pure and simple – to make Subang Jaya a better place for everyone to call home. We have to serve with sincerity and not try to pull wool over anyone’s eyes just for the sake of self-gratification.

We are now into the second quarter of the year. The community has been non-stop busy over the last 3 months. A good sign by my standards; it means we are all in high gear to bring Subang Jaya to the forefront.

The heat wave has not deterred us from outdoor activities with the community. I believe it has even “fired” us up to do even more while the Sun shines.

I am proud to be a Subang Jaya resident. In my years of community work, I have never seen such good energy within the community. We are here to stay and it is our commitment and right to help pave the way for an even better Subang Jaya.

Have a happy month ahead everyone. If you have some thoughts to share with us, drop us a line at editor@sjecho.com.my
