THE Subang Jaya Municipal Council must look into mobilising its enforcement officers at all the LRT stations along the Kelana Jaya Line to keep a check on indiscriminate parking by irresponsible motorists, according to ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh. She said this was a necessary move as it would help ease congestion at the various LRT stations caused by double-parking and also indiscriminate parking. “I want MPSJ to look into stationing a team of enforcement officers at every LRT station to keep tabs on indiscriminate parking at and around the LRT stations.” “We are concerned with the expected influx of people around the LRT stations when it starts operations soon,” she said. Hannah said once operations began, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad will be conducting sound level tests along the LRT lines to determine if sound barriers were needed. She was speaking to reporters after joining residents and members of the USJ6 Rukun Tetangga to plant 15 trees around the field. Hannah said the primary concern for USJ6 residents was the security and indiscriminate parking in their neighbourhood as there are two LRT stations along their neighbourhood boundary adjacent to Persiaran Kewajipan. On a related matter, Hannah said Puchong residents who had started using the Sri Petaling LRT Line service had raised their dissatisfaction with the price of the fares. “We want the Federal Government to review the fares to make it affordable.” “The high fares at the Bus Rail Transit has discouraged many from using it and it defeats the whole purpose of providing public transport to residents when it is too expensive,” she said. On the soon to be completed office block in USJ6 which had been a bane for residents several years ago, Hannah said she had written formally to MPSJ to remind the authority that the building was solely for office use. “The conditions imposed on the construction of this office block are that it must gel in with its surroundings, adhere to conditions that it be used as an office only and that it will have to take measures to ensure it does not cause any traffic congestion to the roads around it.” “It cannot be used as a college. We will protest if the building is used other than what it was meant to be,” she added. - SJ Echo
